Chrome, the web browser by Google has turned 2 yesterday. Google Chrome since its launch on September 2nd, 2008 has launched six version, the latest Google Chrome 6 yesterday on their second birthday. Back then it was launched only for Windows users but Google was very keen in having some love of Mac and Linux users so they launched versions for these operating systems aswell.

Google Chrome has gained a significant share of browser market. According to StatCounter latest stats, it has 10.76% of browser market share making it the third most used web browser of the world. Another interesting post by TechCrunch show some interesting statistics with Google Chrome having the second position in Analytics of TechCrunch.

The numbers are clear: Firefox is in trouble. It has been the top browser since we began using Google Analytics to record stats back in 2007. By 2008, it was nearly 25 percentage points ahead of the next closest rival, Internet Explorer. As of yesterday, it stood just 3 percentage points ahead of the next closest rival, Chrome.
Here are the numbers. In August 2010 (the month that just ended):
Firefox: 33.98%
Chrome: 26.22%
Safari: 18.40%
IE: 13.23%
Mozilla Compatible Agent: 5.46%

These stats wont be very pleasing for our friends at Mozilla but Googlers are loving it and for now they are celebrating the second birthday of this kid called Google Chrome. We wish him all the very best for future!
